![]() Irving Raphael is director of sports medicine/team physician for Syracuse University. Dr. Raphael is a graduate of Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic residency at the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse, where he is now a clinical assistant professor of orthopaedics. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Sports Medicine, the International Arthroscopy Assiciation, and is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Raphael lectures frequently on issues related to sports medicine and student athletes. He specializes in arthroscopic and ligament reconstructive surgery. |

He completed his orthopaedic residency at SUNY at Buffalo Affiliated Hospitals, where he also completed a fellowship in hand surgery. A clinical instructor at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse, Nancollas specializes in hand and upper extremity surgery. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery, with a certificate of added qualification for surgery of the hand. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthoapedic Surgery and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. |
![]() Wayne Eckhardt is a graduate of the SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse Colledge Medicine, where he remained for his orthopaedic training. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He practices general orthopaedic surgery with an emphasis in sports medicine, foot, and running injuries. Eckhardt is also an assistant team physician for the Syracuse University athletic program. |

She completed her residency at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. She completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston , and fellowship in Musculoskeletal Medicine and Interventional Spine at LSU in New Orleans . She completed an Advanced Interventional Spine fellowship with Dr. Charles Aprill, an internationally recognized expert in spinal diagnostics and spinal procedures. She is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, with subspecialty board certification in Pain Medicine. Dr. Melfi is a member of several medical organizations, including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, International Spinal Injection Society, North American Spine Society, and American Academy of Pain Medicine. She specializes in musculoskeletal medicine and non-operative spine diagnostics and procedures. |

![]() Richard J. DiStefano is a graduate of Yale University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. After working three years in engineering, he matriculated at SUNY Upstate Medical Center for medical school and Orthopedic Residency. Completion of his residency was followed by a one-year Spine Fellowship at SUNY-Buffalo. He returned to Syracuse, where he has been in practice since 1995. Dr. DiStefano is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Orthopedic Surgeons. His practice encompasses all aspects of orthopedics, including: spinal surgery, trauma fracture care, joint reconstruction (hip and knee replacements) and arthrospopic, shoulder, knee and hand surgeries. |
